Featured Artist: My Work in the SAA Paint & Create Magazine!

I have some exciting news I want to share with you all!

Part of my professional journey as an artist is continuously learning and challenging myself. To that end, I joined the SAA (Society for All Artists) in June this year. The SAA is a wonderful community, described as "the UK's No 1 art community," dedicated to supporting artists at every stage of their creative journey.

The Postcard Challenge

As a new member, I was encouraged to take part in their "Paint a Postcard Challenge." The brief was simple: explore the limited space to create a memorable miniature on a postcard-sized piece of fine art paper.

I decided to create a miniature rendition of my existing 'Cunning Fox' piece. I originally created the fox on drafting film, which I love, but it was a great challenge to render the same drama and detail onto a different surface. It was fun to join in with a community of artists, and I found I could still achieve a striking result, even on a smaller scale.

I submitted the piece and honestly didn't think much more about it.

Seeing My Work in Print

Imagine my surprise when the Paint & Create Autumn Magazine arrived! As I was flipping through the pages, I immediately caught sight of my little fox on the Community page. I couldn't believe it!

My artwork was chosen as one of just five to be published, right alongside my description of the process. This is the first time since becoming a professional artist that my work has appeared in print, and it truly is an encouraging feeling.

It takes a bit of courage to put your work out there among the fantastic talent in the art community, but moments like this make it all worthwhile. I have a few other submissions for different exhibitions and publications in the pipeline, and I will be sure to keep you posted should they come to fruition!

Own the Original Fox

If you'd like to see the artwork that inspired the magazine feature, you can find the original 'Cunning Fox' here on my website. It's available for sale, professionally framed, and I also offer limited edition prints. The original image was kindly referenced from a photo by Annette Cutts.

Thank you for following along on my artistic journey!
